Tutors Wanted


Tutor Doctor selects tutors based on subject area expertise as well as personality and qualifications. This does not mean that we only hire teachers to be tutors, but we do require experience and extensive knowledge of the subject area they will teach. The beauty of what Tutor Doctor does is that we meet with each client in person to facilitate a strong match of tutor to student based on learning style and personality. To faciliate this process, each tutor must undergo a detailed evaluation and interview that also includes a background check.

Aside from having a substantial knowledge of the subject matter, we also want our tutors to be able to help students with their study skills. This includes assistance with:

  • Determining strengths / areas that require improvement
  • Developing research and writing skills
  • Preparing for exams and standardized tests
  • Improving memory, active listening, concentration, and focus
  • Learning to take better notes and manage time effectively (improving organization & study skills)
  • Providing motivation and building confidence

Job Description


We are looking for tutors who care about our students' progress and who can teach them to have a positive relationship with learning.
We are currently looking for tutors to travel to student's homes in your neighborhood for one-on-one tutoring.
Tutoring involves clarifying and teaching subject matter, as well as assessing the student's knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.
We are interested in tutors with expertise in subject areas of

  • Elementary Education from kindergarten to 8th grade,
  • High school programs such as English, Mathematics (Calculus, Algebra, Geometry) Foreign Languages, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, etc.,
  • Special Needs teachers for Learning Challlenged studnets (K - 8th Grade and High School)
  • SAT / ACT and Test Prep expertise
  • College, University, and Adult programs also welcomed.
  • Other responsibilities include maintaining online session reports and emailing invoices on a monthly basis.
Educational Requirements

Qualifications:
- Certified teachers, undergraduates, graduates, and postgraduates

Personal Skills:

- Access to a reliable vehicle and willing to travel to all areas of San Jose and the South Bay communities
- Open to new ideas & learning strategies
- Good interpersonal/rapport building skills
